Activities

In 2020 we took part in the EGU General Assembly online. In 2019 joint field work was carried out in Northeast China and Siberia. In China, groundwater was tested and samplied in the areas of the Cenozoic volcanic rocks in the Heilongjiang Province. In Siberia, healing mud and hot waters of the Barguzin valley were studied. October 14-15, 2019 A Symposium Riftogenesis, orogenesis, and accompanying processes dedicated to academician Nikolay A. Logatchev was held in Irkutsk, Russia. October 4-18, 2019  Trip of a reseach group from the Institute of Volcanoes and Mineral Springs to the Irkutsk and Buryatia region for field works to implement training program “Research on Mineral Spring Resources in Lake Baikal Volcanic Area” and for participation in scientifical meetings in Irkutsk

September 20-22, 2018  Participation in the First Workshop of Project IGCP-662 “Orogenic architecture and crustal growth from accretion to collision”. Beijing, China.

September 7-21, 2018  Visit of a group of scientists from the Institute of Volcanoes and Mineral Springs to Irkutsk for the aim of training and cooperative field work. Sampling of mineral springs in the northern part of the Tunka basin (Arshan resort) for elemental and microbiological studies. Comparative study of lithology and chemistry of samples of healing muds from Wudalianchi and Lake Baikal regions using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) Phillips 525M. Discussion of advanced methodology and theoretical studies on environmental microbiology in volcanic areas.

July 6-20, 2018  On cooperative field work on the volcanic fields of Wudalianchi and Xiaogulihe, the testing of the mineral waters of the territory was carried out for the first time. The works were conducted with the participation of biologist Yan Lei from Heilongjiang Bayi Agricultural University.

September 4-18, 2017   Training for the scientists from the Institute of Volcanoes and Mineral Springs in Irkutsk and participation in the Second Russia–China international meeting of the Central Asian orogenic belt. July 7-21, 2017  Carrying out cooperative field expedition in China, on the volcanic fields of Wudalianchi, Keluo and Erkeshan. In addition to volcanic rocks, the therapeutic mud of Yaoquan Lake and Longmenshan basin with the adjacent second lake of the cascade of five ones have been tested on the Wudalanschi field. In addition, the sedimentary rocks of the 15-meter terrace were tested. A team of staff from the Institute of Volcanoes and Mineral Sources and a Russian delegation were invited to Heilongjiang Bayi Agricultural University, Daqing. The possibilities of cooperation between geologists and microbiologists in research of the objects of the Wudalianschi and the Baikal Lake regions were discussed.
